Editorial Board

Founding Editorial Team

NudgEd was born from the shared conviction of five academics with extensive experience across education, educational technology, and artificial intelligence in education. Before this journal had a name, it had a conversation. A conversation between colleagues who believed that the scholarly publishing landscape could be more ethical, more inclusive, and more respectful of the communities it serves.

The founding members of this journal are the individuals who shaped that conversation into a mission. Together, they envisioned what NudgEd could become, challenged one another to think beyond the status quo, and committed themselves to building something that honors the scientific contributions of researchers around the world. Every principle this journal stands for, from compensating reviewers to welcoming null results to building a truly interdisciplinary advisory panel, traces back to the values this team shares.

The founding editorial members of NudgEd are:

Call for Thematic Issue Editors

NudgEd invites proposals from accomplished researchers and practitioners who wish to join our editorial community as guest editors of thematic issues. This is an opportunity to shape the conversation around the most pressing, emerging, and underexplored intersections of artificial intelligence and education.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking proposals that address cutting-edge topics, shine a light on areas that are field-defining yet underrepresented in current discourse, and generate meaningful dialogue around the future of education in the age of AI. The strongest proposals will be those that open new lines of inquiry rather than revisit well-established ground.

Editorial Team Composition

Each proposal should be put forward by a team of four guest editors. The majority of the team must hold academic appointments. However, we strongly encourage proposing teams to include perspectives from beyond academia, whether from industry, policy, civil society, or practice, to ensure that the thematic issue reflects the interdisciplinary ethos that defines NudgEd.

Issue Structure

Each thematic issue will consist of four peer-reviewed articles and one editorial note authored by the guest editors, totalling five contributions per issue. All articles will be published under the Intelligent Nudge imprint. Each contribution will be assigned its own DOI, and the issue will carry its own ISSN. Once NudgEd achieves Scopus indexing, all thematic issues will be included in the journal's indexed record.

How to Submit a Proposal

Proposals should be no longer than four pages and must include the proposed theme and a brief rationale for its relevance, the full names, institutional affiliations, and short biographical notes of all proposed guest editors, and a brief outline of the expected scope and contribution of the issue.

We look forward to hearing from you. If you have a vision for a thematic issue that challenges, provokes, and advances the field, NudgEd is ready to support it.

Please email your thematic issue proposal to support@intelligentnudge.com.

Guest Editors’ Contribution and Compensation

NudgEd welcomes proposals from researchers who wish to lead a thematic issue and contribute to advancing the dialogue around the use of artificial intelligence in education. If you have a groundbreaking topic in mind, one that has been underexplored, that challenges established thinking, or that opens new pathways for inquiry at the intersection of technology and education, we want to hear from you.

Proposal and Team Requirements

Each thematic issue is proposed and led by a team of four guest editors. Proposals must be submitted to support@intelligentnudge.com and should present a compelling case for the chosen theme, its relevance, and its potential contribution to the field. All proposals will be assessed by at least four independent reviewers appointed from outside the founding editorial team. Only proposals that successfully pass this anonymous review process will be accepted.

Issue Structure and Editorial Standards

Each thematic issue consists of four peer-reviewed articles and one editorial note crafted by the guest editorial team. We strongly encourage guest editors to treat the editorial note not as a summary of the issue but as a substantive contribution in its own right, one that offers original insight, attracts readership, and adds genuine value to the scholarly conversation.

Guest editors are responsible for curating their issue with great selectivity. Quality must always take precedence over convenience. Be deliberate in the articles you accept and the reviewers you invite.

Peer Review Responsibilities

Guest editors are fully responsible for assembling their own pool of qualified peer reviewers. Reviewers must hold a doctoral degree and possess the expertise and scholarly judgment necessary to evaluate manuscripts at the highest level. The journal's founding editorial team and editor-in-chief will oversee all editorial decisions and activities to ensure alignment with the journal's standards. All assessments must reflect independent human judgment and intellectual autonomy.

Diversity and Inclusion

NudgEd is built on a commitment to diversity, and this extends fully to every thematic issue. Proposals that draw all contributors from a single country or a single institution will not be accepted. Guest editors must ensure that their issue reflects geographic, institutional, and intellectual diversity. This is not a suggestion. It is a requirement.

Ethical Conduct

Guest editors must adhere strictly to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines throughout the entire editorial process. You’re asked to treat all authors and their work with the utmost respect and urgency, maintaining vigilance against fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, and any form of ethical misconduct, and conducting the process with complete transparency and integrity. Any concerns must be raised with the founding editorial team immediately.

Timeline

Guest editors are expected to bring their thematic issue to completion within a four to eight month timeframe. Delays in academic publishing are precisely what NudgEd was created to challenge, and we expect our guest editorial teams to share that commitment.

Compensation

We believe that intellectual labor deserves recognition. Each guest editor whose issue is successfully completed and passes the journal's quality review will receive a compensation of 500 USD. This means that a full guest editorial team of four will collectively receive 2,000 USD upon the successful conclusion of their thematic issue.

This compensation is our way of honoring the time, energy, and expertise that guest editors invest in strengthening this journal and contributing to the scholarly community it serves.

Beyond the Thematic Issue

Guest editors whose proposals are accepted and whose thematic issues meet the journal's standards may be invited to continue their relationship with NudgEd as associate editors, further deepening their involvement in the journal's growth and mission.

We look forward to receiving your proposals and to welcoming new voices into the NudgEd editorial community.
